I'm Still Painting!

First, I want to say, it’s a good thing my blog is not about daily posting or I would be a complete failure! I’m well into the second quarter of the second year of my daily painting effort. (With one small caveat, that I paint most days - Monday thru Friday.)  In his book, Outliers, Malcom Gladwell suggests that it takes approximately four years of concentrated study to become an expert in a particular area. I’m not quite half way there, but I am certainly enjoying the journey.

After many months of being incommunicado, I’m going to post quite a few paintings - both old and new, along with prices and size information. Colors are not quite true depending on your computer monitor. Be sure to check previous blog entries, since I will be adding pricing information to those as well. Enjoy the show!

Cheating

 Sunshine and Pears (11 X 14) $250

Summer Harvest (8 X 10) $150

Since I haven't posted in two weeks, tonight I'm posting out of sheer discipline. And I'm cheating just a bit. Yes, I've painted most days, so there is success in that, but I haven't produced anything that I am pleased with since my first post. Often I remind myself that I learn something with every painting–even the unsuccessful ones, but it can be discouraging. All that said, now you know why I titled this post cheating: these are paintings that I completed several months ago. Enjoy!

A Challenging Year!

It's 2015 and time for me to get serious about this blog. How long have I been saying this to all of my faithful friends, who have so graciously encouraged me? I started my daily painting venture at the beginning of 2014, and I've loved every minute, even the frustrating ones. After a year of consistent effort, I am beginning to see the benefits.

So you may ask, "What is daily painting"? In its truest sense, daily painting is painting with the goal of creating a finished work in a single day. Usually the paintings are small which increases the odds of completion. I'm still not quite there. My goal is to paint daily (even that is a challenge), but for me completion times vary between one to two days and on occasion require three.

All that said, I am ready to post a few of my paintings. Feel free to inquire about purchasing a painting - most are for sale. I hope that you'll enjoy following my creative journey. Here we go.....
